20 Homemade Holiday Gifts

Posted on Dec 5 2013 - 10:11pm by Susan Bewley

Even though it may sound strange, I have been in the mood to make many of my gifts this Christmas. With so many people focusing on getting the best deals and shopping to find the perfect things, I am wondering if people have forgotten that it really is the thought that counts. I want my friends and family to know that their gift isn't just some expensive item, but something that is truly fitting. For that reason, I thought it may be better to try making gifts that truly come from the heart – homemade gifts that take time and thought. As well, homemade gifts can be personalized, allowing you to make something truly unique and special. Since Christmas will be here before I know it, I have been looking at different sites and on Pinterest for inspiration, where I found so many amazing ideas. Below, are 20 of the best Homemade Gifts I have found online. Hopefully some of these great projects will not only get you inspired, but get you in the holiday spirit!

Thank you for all the good ideas. I read through the DIY Soap making article and I would like to give it a try. I've got an old crockpot and immersen blender already and there are several places that sell 100% lye drain cleaner in town. I'm not sure it would be any cheaper than buying some at the store, but it looks like it would be fun to make.

I like making things. But I don't think people appreciate home made things. They think it's tacky.

This list is so cool…we are so broke this year, that it seems I may have no choice but to make some holiday gifts for my family.  I love some of these ideas, and I think the people receiving them will, too!

I love DYI xmas gifts. I recently look into metal jewelry making and I’m excited to try it out. Its going to be great gifts. Also, putting hot cocoa mix marshmallows in a mason jar. For the adults you can tie a mini irish cream alcohol bottle for fun.

I think it is so meaningful when a person gives you a gift they made themselves, It is because they took the time and effort to think of you while making that gift.  People dont do it too often.

Susan, what lovely gifts! I would also add paper bead jewelry. I make it all of the time and it is cheap and easy to make. I even make paper beads from packaging like tissue boxes, soap boxes, cereal boxes, etc.

I also wanted to let you know I wore my new dress today since it was finally warm enough to wear. I love it so much.

Last year I intended to make homemade vanilla to give as Christmas gifts. I bought them early enough to have them made well before Christmas, but I (procrastinated,) I mean forgot and the 20 Homemade Holiday Gifts reminded me that I still have the vanilla beans and I could make them now and bottle them up for Christmas. I would love to tell everyone that my Christmas shopping is done!
P.S. I selected a free Amazon book last week. The title is: STOP BEING LAZY! How To Master The Art Of Getting Things Done and Overcome Procrastination To Finally Achieve More. Pray that I read it!
