Well, I got most of the necessities (not that I’m living in a dorm), but definitely can’t leave home without my calculator, the same one that I’ve had since 2001, and can’t live without! 🙂

This is such a great list of college essentials! My favorite one is probably the laptop/computer. This is definitely a must have now-a-days! I think these complete campus sets are brilliant, I would love to win one for my step-daughter who is just about to start. 🙂

What a great checklist! All of those items are essential. One thing I find super-important for off-to-college kids is a selection of pain relievers, allergy meds, cold/sinus treatments, etc. Up to this point they’ve pretty much relied on mom and dad to take care of the medicine cabinet, so this is very unfamiliar ground for them!

I would add powerbanks to the list. Yes, you’ll have outlets in the dorm room, however they’re so handy!

I’m actually packing my youngest for college right now. The number #1 dorm room essential we were told about at orientation was an Ethernet cable. The average student brings 3 web devices to college. Most evenings the wireless system will get slowed down by all these. Having an Ethernet cable hook up for your computer can save a lot of time & frustration.

I was told years ago always bring dry food , soups, coco, tea and snacks. That way if you ‘re running late you just grab a snack and go.

Not only a calendar, but a planner. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but space to write assignments and appointments is necessary. My planner was my lifeline. Everything was written in it. School schedule, work schedule, assignments, dates, phone numbers, any little bit of trivial info I thought might need again. No missing post its or scraps of paper to lose.
