As a tech-heavy household, we go through quite a few hard drives in our home, and have some older ones just sitting on my husband’s desk. These hard drives were from older computers or laptops that are no longer in use, but we know have data that is just waiting to be removed and moved over to one of our newer, less likely to fail drives. The problem, however, is that we only have one older docking station, meaning we can only deal with one hard drive at a time and at USB 1.0 speeds (hours to copy a few gigabytes, ugh). This docking station allows you to access 2.5″ & 3.5 inch SATA HDD/SDD drives without having to mount them in your computer. best of all, this docking station has an slot covering that swings away, allowing the drive to be more stable and firm when attaching smaller laptop hard drives. This device supports up to 4 TB hard drives and no extra software is needed to use this dock.

So far, we are very pleased with this docking station. Once a drive was inserted and the dock powered on, it was detected and available for use within about 10 seconds. While our test hard drive wasn’t fast enough to test its full speed capability (the laptop drive in question topped out at about 55MB/s, about a third of what USB 3.0 is capable of), it did a fine job pulling data from the drive docked in the unit. Based on our own experience, we give this docking station an A rating.
