Dog and cat owners – does your pet have a drinking problem? According to most veterinarians, they do! Many pets suffer from some form dehydration since they don’t get their recommended daily amount of water. Unlike us, 80% of their bodies are water, which means to stay hydrated, they should receive 1 oz of water daily per pound of body weight. So, what can we do as pet owners to keep our pets hydrated, especially during the heat of the summer? PetSafe decided to make learning how to help our pets easier with this handy dandy infographic.

I’d love to win this. I operate a cat rescue for elderly cats, and I’m forever filling water bowls. I’d have to put it up at night, as I live in the country, and the coons and possums would have a field day with it.

We are forever filling water bowls. It’s a daily chore around here. I would like to know is it splashes water onto the floor?

I have a cat who always seems thirsty! She totally needs one of these! I have 2 stainless steel bowls that I wash daily and fill fresh multiple times a day. I also let her drink out of the sink faucet all the time!!

Even though I keep water out in a bowl for my cat all day, mostly he drinks water from his cup as I hold him. I have an egg cup that I bought for him to drink from so he would quit drinking from mine. He has to have distilled water according to the vet, while I drink filtered. So I hold his cup while he drinks all of it, then I carry him out to get more. He drinks that and sometimes part of the third. Even at that, he isn’t getting enough water according to the vet. He loves drinking water as it’s coming out of the spigot in the bathroom sink. I can’t just leave it on though when I’m not with him. This fountain looks ideal for what he likes and what the vet said to get. This hot summer makes it even more important.

We have one dog and two kitties so it’s really important to us to keep fresh water out at all times.

I currently have four Treeing Walker Coonhounds and three cats (down from five Coonhounds since my deaf hound girl, Ran, passed in April). I keep multiple bowls of water available for them – two half-gallon bowls just outside our back door, where the dogs go out (and I clean and fill them multiple times every day) and four quart sized bowls in the house – two in the main bathroom and two in the kitchen (also cleaned and filled multiple times daily). I do try to encourage them to drink more water during the summer especially.

We have four dogs, and it can be hard keeping them hydrated. Luckily, our labs love swimming in the lake, and we keep our pug in the house, so it’s easy to make sure he gets enough water.

I have 5 cats that drink out of the fish tank. It is a small 5 gallon tank that use to have a beta fish in it (R.I.P Ferdinand) . They drink where the water comes out of the filter so it works. I would love to have a fountain so I could get rid of the tank.

I make sure to always have clean, fresh water in their bowls… and I never chide my cat for spilling when she pushes her water bowl around to make the water move. If it keeps her drinking, it’s okay by me.

I have one dog a 7 year old boxer boy named Neo that I rescued about 3 1/2 years ago. Since his nose is so short, he overheats quite easily. Whenever we go out I always have water with for him. His bowl in the house is always full and fresh because I refill it several times a day. 🙂

I keep bowls of water in different rooms. That way they always have water. The challenge comes in keeping the bowls filled and clean. I want them to have fresh, good water at all times.

I make sure to give them clean, cold water several times a day. Also, I’ll give them ice cubes.

I have 6 animals and I keep them hydrated by keeping a large bowl filled with water and I like to put ice cubes in it daily. My dogs like ice cubes as treats.
