When we bought our home, it came with the most ugly thermostat – likely the cheapest thing the builders could find when the house was built in 1998. Don’t get me wrong, it worked well, but it was ugly. As we are redecorating and redoing some things in the house, I asked my husband if we could buy a new cover or an all new thermostat all together. After reading about it on their website, I couldn’t wait for it to arrive!

Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control: Overall
I will freely admit, the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control is the neatest thermostats I think I have ever seen. After we got it installed (which was pretty easy after we troubleshooted an issue with our old wiring), the thermostat was a breeze to set up. One of the first things we tested as the voice activation feature. Not only could we easily get her to make the room hotter or cooler, but could do from a variety of distances – I could even tell her to make changes from our kitchen. To us though, the really neat feature was the ability for us to control our thermostat from our cellphones. Through our Honeywell iPhone app, we can control the temperature in the house, program the thermostat, see the weather outside, the current temperature in the house, or even turn on the air conditioning if we desire. As well, if you want to keep your house in comfortable ranges all the time, you can set your thermostat to automatic, where it decides based on house temperatures if it needs air conditioning or heating and switches as needed.
I am also excited that Honeywell is still updating our smart thermostat. Since we installed our thermostat they have added 5 new voice commands that I think are very helpful. Such as:
- “What is the Time” – Provides the current time as set on your thermostat
- “What is Today’s Date” – Provides the current date as set on your thermostat
- “What is the Outdoor/Outside Temperature” – Provides the outdoor temperature using your registered zip code on Honeywell Total Connect Comfort
- “What is the Indoor/Inside Temperature” – Provides the indoor temperature as recognized directly by your thermostat
- “Never Mind” – Cancels/ends your current voice control session
In the end, this Honeywell thermostat gave us full control of the temperature in our home, anywhere – inside or out. Between voice commands and our cellphones, keeping our house comfortable is easier than ever. It is pretty amazing! I love the convenience of being able to control it from our phones as well. Nothing is better than being able to make sure the house is comfortable after coming back from a weekend trip or vacation (or making it warmer without getting out of blankets!)

This is a great thing to have to save money by reducing the amount of energy we use. It is so neat to even use your cell phone to adjust it .
This is so cool. I couldn’t justify the cost upfront as we’re pretty diligent as it is with monitoring our air usage so our bill isn’t too high. However, if I found we were becoming forgetful and the bills were going up, I would imagine we could make that $300 worth it with in several months!

Switching to an automatic thermostat was one of the smartest things we have done. it’s not voice controlled tho. sounds neat.

The voice activation is a great feature, especially if it can be done from a short distance. Though the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is pricier than your standard thermostat. It looks like it is worth saving up for, not only for its convenience, but also for the savings of being able to change the temperature of your house when you forget and leave without lowering the temp in winter, etc.
It is super nice! I am amazed at how much it is controlling our house now. It is no longer too hot or too cold since it is smart enough to know our activity and normal schedule.
