Looking for an awesome book for kids? See what we think of Barnyard Kids: A Family Guide for Raising Animals here!

Do you know a child who loves farm animals? We have one living right next door to us who spent time with farm animals this past summer. Ever since, we have heard her talk about her favorite little goat and how she wants to own one herself once she is an ‘adult’. Of course, to all the adults, this was adorable since she loves anything that has to do with animals. She even wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up! When I had the opportunity to review a new book on farm animals for kids – Barnyard Kids: A Family Guide for Raising Animals – I couldn’t wait to get this cute book in her hands!

Barnyard Kids: A Family Guide for Raising Animals: Overall

So far, this seems to be a fairly innovative book since it bridges a gap between most children’s and adult books. As someone who loves animals, our little neighbor absolutely loved this book, which was filled with a variety of beautiful pictures and information she found fascinating. Recently I read that teenagers don’t have any idea where their food comes from. That is sad! It’s unfathomable to anyone of my generation, my parents, their parents, etc. Children should go to farms to observe gardening and cows, pigs, or chickens and fully appreciate where their food really comes from.

This is such a smart idea for a book! How great also for kids who will never get a chance to visit a farm.

This does sound wonderful. I know from having a goat, it is a ruminant, and the care is much different than a dog or cat. Also, chickens, they are vulnerable little critters, it is good to know what it takes. I had a 4-H girl help me with mine.

I love this book, I lived on a farm and this would be great to use to explain to my Grandson all about it. So glad I saw this on your review list.
