Do you love a good matcha latte? Even before it was popular, I had always loved green tea. One of the special things I always loved to do was order fresh white tea and matcha powder from Japan as soon as the season arrived. While it was usually expensive, it was a fantastic treat for my husband and me. With Japanese food becoming increasingly popular in the United States, we have enjoyed having many of the things we were used to special-ordering available in our local grocery store or on Amazon.com. One of the things I have especially loved lately is having matcha latte mix available in large bags, similar to what you would expect to find in Japan, especially from ITO EN.
While some restaurants have always had specialty drinks made from tea, it was rarely with this expensive Japanese tea. I have been especially excited with more people trying to introduce others to this traditional drink on social media. I prefer its more traditional methods, but there is just something nice about turning it into a delightful fruit latte mix, especially one inspired by some American desserts. Not only is it far healthier than you would expect, but these fruit lattes taste amazing!
After experimenting at home, I decided to use some of the extra bananas I had on sale to create a delightfully creamy matcha latte. Not only is this latte far cheaper than what you can find at any restaurant, but it’s also very easy to make. In five minutes or less, you can have a healthy drink that is perfect after a hard day at work or to treat yourself after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day.
