CLR American’s Dirtiest Cleaning Secrets Sweepstakes

Organized by Budget Earth

Do you consider yourself a cleanliness fanatic? In today’s world, women have a lot on their plates. We have to juggle being a mom, professional, wife/girlfriend, daughter, and sometimes even more roles. With everything going on in our lives, we all consider cleaning our homes to be an important job, one which sometimes we have to do during our little bit of down time. While cleaning is important, do you consider yourself a cleaning fanatic? Surprisingly, many Americans consider cleaning to be quite important, and even a central part of their lives!

Recently, CLR had a survey conducted by TNS to learn about American’s cleaning habits and what they considered important about cleaning. Some of what they learned was surprising to me, such as:

  • One-third of Americans have avoided visiting a friend or family member’s home because it is too dirty
  • More than six in ten Americans are triggered to clean their homes when friends, family or significant others visit
  • More than half of Americans consider a dirty bathroom to be one of their biggest pet peeves when visiting other people’s homes
  • One in five Americans only clean their bathrooms once a month

To say the least, Americans consider cleanliness to be more important than any of us realized! With cleaning being so important to many of us, it isn’t too surprising that we want cleaners that are not only highly effective, but save us time, all without harming our family or the environment. For decades, CLR has been a brand that families have trusted to take care of just about any household job, from getting rid of a nasty calcium buildup with CLR Calcium, Lime and Rust Remover, to getting stains out of our carpets with the CLR Stain Magnet. Once you have tried their products, you won’t want to use anything else!

One in five Americans only clean their bathrooms once a month? I understand busy schedules but YUCK! I have two tweeners, who participate in multiple sports and my husband who is a contractor. I clean my bathrooms at least once a day if not more. My kids aren’t messy but there is so much dirty from their uniforms. I would also worry about cold and flu season and the potential of spreading illnesses.

I learned that I am not alone in judging the cleanliness of bathrooms. I can put up with just about any king of clutter or mess – but if your bathroom is nasty – ugh.

I love the breakdown in percentages of how often people clean or avoid others homes because they feel that they are too dirty. I seem to be one of those people who avoid because of my terrible allergies for dog/cat and dust.

I learned 1/3 of Americans are self confessed cleaning fanatics. I also learned that 42% of Americans use paper towels to open public doors.

I can’t believe that 1 in 5 only clean the bathroom once a month. That’s just so wrong! I’d never want to visit them! I clean my bathroom daily.

I learned that if these were Family Feud questions, I’d lose the game! Some of the percentages were were much higher than I would have guessed, but others, like amount that only clean the bathroom once a month, were much lower than I would have though.

Hi! I learned that 1/3 of Americans have chosen not to visit a friend or family because their house is dirty. Also more than 6 people out of ten clean their home before company comes over. I know I’ve done both of these things. lol Thank-you for the chance!
