Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease a 12-serving donut pan with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  3. Add the butter, maple syrup, half and half, sour cream, egg, and vanilla extract to a large mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until combined. The butter will appear lumpy – this is fine.
  4. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon to a separate small mixing bowl and whisk to combine.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and beat with the electric mixer until fully combined and very smooth.
  6. Add the chopped pecans to the batter and stir until combined.
  7. Scoop the batter into a large ziplock bag, snip the corner off, and pipe the batter evenly into each cavity of the prepared donut pan(s).
  8. Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
  9. Add the granulated sugar and the remaining two teaspoons of cinnamon to a gallon-size ziplock bag. Shake to combine.
  10. Add the hot donuts, two or three at a time, to the bag and shake gently to coat the donuts in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  11. Transfer the donuts to a wire cooling rack to cool. These are best served the same day.
