15 DIY Handmade Christmas Ornaments

November 25, 2020 by Susan Bewley

Are you starting to get your Christmas tree together and looking for the perfect Christmas ornaments? I will freely admit we haven’t even bought our tree yet! We know we have to start getting our house ready for the holidays, including getting all of our Christmas decorations and making the holidays as fun as possible for our entire family.

One of the things I always loved as a kid was having a fun, unique Christmas tree that included homemade ornaments—some things my mom made and others from various craft projects from us kids. To me, that is just part of Christmas—making fun projects and decorations. All of us kids had a variety of handmade Christmas ornaments, ranging from things we made as toddlers all the way up to complicated, hand-painted ornaments.

Now that I have my own family, I am trying to find ways to incorporate our own DIY Christmas ornaments. Of course, we have paw prints from the girls and ornaments from our own childhood. Since the majority of our tree, though, is glass ornaments, I would to create some gorgeous ornaments that include our preferred Christmas colors. Most importantly, they should be projects we can do together as a family, allowing us to create the perfect holiday experience with these ornaments.

That’s a cute idea. It’s also a good way to recycle items around the house.

I’m thrilled that Poke’mon is back, and bigger than ever. We had a string of Poke’mon lights and used the plastic pokeballs that came with the toys from Burger King to decorate a little tree we have. We added plastic Poke’mon toys and had a Pikachu on top. That was over 17 years ago. The pokeball idea is cute, but I’d love to do the different types of balls, too.

These are so pretty. I love making different ornaments. I learned how to make the beaded ornaments and ceramic. I am currently working on fabric balls. It’s so much fun learning how to create new treasures. Thanks for sharing.
