Meatless Monday: How One Day without Meat Helps the World

March 25, 2014 by Susan Bewley

Does your family take part in meatless Monday? In our household, we try eating as many meals as we can that are vegetarian friendly. While it took quite a bit of adjusting, we found that eating meatless gave us more energy, cut down on our grocery bill, and allowed us to try a variety of different ethnic dishes that left us not even craving meat. Like us, many people start eating more healthy by taking part in Meatless Monday. Have you considered doing this fun tradition with your own family? You may be surprised not only with the health benefits, but how much it helps the environment!

I was a vegetarian for over a decade so I often go “meatless” without even realizing it! Many people think a vegetarian diet is bland, too difficult, or not hearty enough and I couldn’t disagree more! There are great meat substitutes to use while initially making the transition and once you get the hang of it, incorporating vegetarian dishes that are hearty on their own is easy!

Some of my favorite dishes are vegetarian. Anyone who would call vegetarian bland has never had Thai or Indian – yum!

Love this! I have been trying to convince my hubby to jump on board-now that I have facts to show him, maybe we can finally go meatless!

I do Meatless Monday! 🙂 It’s a fantastic way to substitute meat with healthier food. 🙂
It was a challenge at first that I need to come up with recipes without meat but everything went well. 🙂

What a great Infographic on how beneficial going meatless can be. I have not really participated in this before but it sounds like a great idea.

It’s a simple choice, and I know that, but I like the infographic! I think I can use it to explain to people why we don’t need so much meat.

We have quite a number of meatless meals per week. But I was amazed at the amount of resources that can be saved by eating fewer meals with meat in them! Thanks.

My family go meatless all the time. We are vegetarians and I also pledged to eat more veggies and fruits. Not is it only healthy but it is awesome that even my kids are enjoying the meals that I cook!

It is hard for me to go meatless and not fill up on pasta. Great tips!
