Omwich Recipe (Easy Omelet Waffle Sandwich)

Easy Omelet Waffle Sandwich

I will admit it, I am one of those people who sometimes skips breakfast. It was an old habit that started back in high school and even today, I have to force myself to sit down and eat something in the morning. Not only does it keep me from snacking all day, but various studies have shown that it is one of the secrets to long term weight loss. When you have a high protein breakfast with fiber, you eat less throughout the day, and have more energy. With National Waffle Day here, I was determined to use my favorite Van’s Natural Waffle to make a high protein treat that was not only healthy, but tastes great!

After a bit of brainstorming with my husband we finally came up with the perfect breakfast sandwich. An egg, tomato and cheese sandwich made from Van’s Natural Foods brand-new high protein waffles. With a bit of experimenting, we found a perfect combination that is easy to make and has enough flavor you will be looking forward to breakfast each morning! From start to finish, this recipe took me about ten minutes and made two very large breakfast sandwiches. If you like the recipe, make sure to tell us what you think!

Looking for a delicious, easy breakfast sandwich? Check out this yummy omelet waffle sandwich recipe!

  • Author: Susan Bewley
  • Yield: 2 1x
  • Category: Breakfast
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of Heavy Cream or Half & Half
  • 3 Tablespoons of Garlic, Basil, & Oregano Diced Tomatoes (in a can)
  • 1/4 cup Monterrey Jack Cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon of butter
  • 4 Individual Van Natural Food Power Grain Frozen Waffles

Instructions

  1. ) In a small bowl, crack the eggs and beat the eggs with a fork until they are very well mixed.
  2. ) Mix your chosen dairy with the eggs. Make sure it’s mixed in well.
  3. ) Set one of your stove burners to medium high heat. Place a frying pan on the burner with the tablespoon of butter. Melt the butter thoroughly and have the butter bubbling. You want the pan very hot before the eggs go in.
  4. ) Pour egg mixture into your pan. As the edges cook, push the cooked areas into the center of the omelet. Yes, it looks ugly but this is going to be the unseen center of your omelet. By cooking your omelet in this way, it makes sure it is cooked evenly and you do not have to flip it.
  5. ) One the egg looks mostly cooked, place the cheese and tomatoes in the center of the omelet. Once the cheese has melted, carefully fold the omelet and transfer to plate.
  6. ) Remove four individual waffles from the your box of Van Natural Food Power Grain Frozen Waffles. Toast these waffles in the toaster.
  7. ) Cut your omelet in half and place on two toasted waffles. Top with two remaining pieces and serve warm.

This is right up my youngest one’s alley. She has just started high school. Breakfast is a problem. She does not want to eat at 6:15 am and I cannot blame her. I am not really productive at that time of morning so we have been struggling to find things she can take to eat on the way to school or as soon as she gets there. This is perfect. I can make this in no time and she can have a good breakfast without it being junk.

This looks and sounds wonderful. It’s also s a perfect way to use my homegrown tomatoes for breakfast. For variety I could see adding mushrooms too.

I love scrambled eggs for breakfast. With the waffles as “bread” in your breakfast sandwich, this is a fun, delicious and easy meal.

This would be a new way for me to try waffles. I love waffles and I love omelets but have never had them in a single sandwich. Thanks for the recipe.

This is another great idea. I love waffles but adding the protein will just give you that added boost for the morning and most likely take you until the lunch hour without needed a snack.

Sounds good, I guess my old mind never though of using the waffles in place of bread, because this is one of the hardest things we have had to do for my grandchildren and that is to do without bread since they have problems with gluten, they have put peanut butter and jelly on waffles, but never though of eating as a sandwich, I like you recipe for the Omwich, I bet we could use the canned tomatoes in other recipes as well, thank you for this post.

I have actually thought about doing this before but I never have. I would probably use a side of maple syrup for dipping as well. Then it would kind of taste like the McGriddle 🙂

Oh my, this looks amazing. Great idea, thank you for posting. I’ve been gluten-free now for over a year, and I am always looking for new ideas to mix meals up because it gets boring eating the same g-free stuff again and again. I would and probably would make this as a lunch or dinner option also.
