What You Need to Know Before Starting the HCG Diet #CoreUnDiet

January 3, 2015 by Susan Bewley

Disclosure: I received products and/or monetary compensation for this post. All opinions, however, are honest and my own.

As some of you know, I am a big animal lover. I haven’t found many animals I don’t likes, including horses. While I have never ridden a horse other than the cute fair stuff as a kid, but I think they are beautiful, majestic creatures. That being said, one of the latest diets out there I think is pretty well crazy. Are you a fan of mare urine? I don’t know about you, but it’s not my thing. Why am I mentioning this you may ask? Well, this new, expensive diet pill out there is built around pregnant mare urine.

What diet is this you may ask? It’s called the HCG and it claims to help people lose a lot of weight. If you check out the claims, it seems to be true, people have been losing a lot of weight on this diet. During my research, however, was when I found that its ‘secret’ ingredient was pregnant mare urine. I don’t know about you but this seems pretty gross to me. Even more, I can’t help but question if this is really how people lose the weight, since the diet also put you on a 500 calories a day diet. The urine, in the form of a pill, drink or shot, is suppose to keep the hunger away while you are on this very low calorie diet.

As someone who suffered from an eating disorder in the past, this seem pretty frightening to me. That is a very low calorie diet, and about half of what Weight Watchers feed you (which is also a low calorie diet). 500 calories is about a 1/4 of what the US government recommends someone has a day if you look at most food labels. In other words, this is a dangerously low amount of the calories for the body and can easily throw the body into starvation mode.

Now, back to HCG. It isn’t just for weight loss. In the medical world, it is used for causing ovulation and to treat infertility in women, as well as increasing sperm count in men. While it can help women with this medical condition, this medicine can also cause a condition known as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). For those who know nothing about this condition, it can easily become life threatening, having ‘wonderful’ side effects, such as:

  • severe pelvic pain
  • swelling hands
  • swelling legs
  • stomach pain
  • stomach swelling
  • shortness of breath,
  • weight gain
  • diarrhea
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • decreased urination

Seems like a lot of dangerous side effect just to lose weight, don’t you think? Also, did you notice that weight gain is also one of the side effects? A lot of people who are on the HCG diet talk about gaining the weight back plus more, making me wonder if people really understand what they are getting into when they start this diet. Yes, obesity has its own risks but there are other, safer options out there for losing weight don’t put your health at risk. Recently, I saw a really cool video that explains why diets really cause weight gain. Check it out! It’s only about 1 1/2 minutes long and makes a lot of sense.

I’m personally not going anywhere near the HCG diet. I don’t need pregnant mare urine to lose weight, and I don’t need (or want) to hurt my body any more. I did that before, and I can tell you, it makes you gain weight. This is where most of my weight came from – a mix of starving and purging in my teens and early twenties. It doesn’t work, trust me. I need a diet that isn’t nonsensical and will truly help me succeed. I need an undiet. I’m personally trying the #CoreUnDiet, which is so confident about their program that they offer free samples! I’m going to try it and save myself a lot of money and grief. I don’t have the money for voodoo diets and programs designed to make me a long term client.

Let’s leave the horse urine outdoors, or at least only for severe medical conditions. Do your body a favor and don’t consume their byproducts. Your body will thank you for it. If you want to try this awesome diet with me, don’t forget that you can get FREE #CoreUndiet samples here!

This is really good information for those looking to diet. I think most diets are scams, its best just to eat healthy foods in moderation.

Oh my goodness, how was this diet pill even approved or is it because it does not have to be approved by the FDA or other governing partners?? It seems outrageous and who is monitoring these animals and ensuring you are getting what you paid for. I know when a human being does a urine test, it has to be refrigerated and handled properly, otherwise it is not viable. What is the world coming to?? 🙂 thanks for your post!! My advice, forget the samples, eat smaller portions (easier said than done I know) 🙂

This just goes to show that if you are considering going on a diet research it first. Thanks for the post, I have not seen this information on any other site.

The HCG diet sounds very dangerous and HCG sounds dangerous, how are people able to get it without a prescription? This is a very informative post, I had never heard of HCG before reading about it here. Thank you for sharing this post.

This sounds like a very dangerous diet to me. I definitely would not want to take this pill. I am so glad you shared this so people like me will know exactly what this is about. This is terrible. Thank you so much for sharing

Wow! You really did your Home Work!! Thank you for this post, very, very much. I was ‘grossly obese’ and had Roux-N-Y Gastric Bypas Surgery 18 years ago and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Yes, I weigh in at 140 instead of 321, but my health is horrible. I should have done more Home Work and not listened to all the doctors back then!!
