Easy Sloppy Joe Pockets Recipe

December 12, 2014 by Susan Bewley

Sometimes, it’s nice having quick recipes when you are in a hurry. With our busy schedules I sometimes feel like we go for fast food too quickly, especially burgers. To save money and cut back on greasy, unhealthy food, I have been trying to find more recipes that are not only easy to make, but don’t take a great deal of time. I especially love recipes that I can do some prep ahead of time by throwing things in a bag and then throwing it in a pot later. One of my friends actually introduced me to this super easy, ‘sloppy joe’ or ground beef pocket recipe. Not only is it easy but fairly inexpensive! We are pretty certain your family will like this recipe just as much as ours!

Note: Special thanks to my friends Shannon at Livingston Creatives for helping me with this recipe and pictures!

This is a great recipe. We don’t eat fast food in our house, but schedules are always crazy and getting a quick meal on the go is hard to plan. This is going to be a great recipe my whole family will eat. I can make these in bulk and freeze. Thanks!

I love sloppy joes. I use fresh tomato in mine and let it simmer for a couple of hours. I’ve never tried brown sugar in mine. That sounds like it would give it a bit of a bbq. taste. Sloppy Joes must be homemade. I can’t stand that canned stuff!

This looks delicious, and it’s only 8 in the morning. I have seen other versions of this recipe that used the canned stuff, but this looks wonderfully fresh. Can’t wait to try it one day. One question, do you use regular size biscuits or jumbo size?

This is a good recipe. You can fill the pastry with pretty much anything that you like. I’ve tried it with pizza fillings and scrambled egg, cheese and sausage. My husband makes dough from scratch but in a pinch the pre-made rolls are fine.
