Hagen Heritage Treats Review: Natural Treats for Dogs

June 22, 2015 by Susan Bewley

Hagen Heritage 1

Like every dog owner will tell you, treats are a major part of any dog’s life. They are not only great for training, but rewarding a dog for great behavior. This is especially true with malamutes, who are very eager to do just about anything with the right motivation (aka treats). Now that we are training Ivi, we have been using quite a few treats not just with her, but Reya as well since we want to show the puppy how to perform each of these commands perfectly and that she will sometimes get a reward for them when asked.  While Reya is doing a great job training the new puppy with us, we also have to be careful with the treats, especially since many of the treats out there are high in calories. Luckily, we recently found the perfect treats that are not only low calorie, but in flavors dogs like as well – Hagen Heritage.

Hagen Heritage Wholesome Oatmeal Treats: What is It?

Looking for high quality, all natural treats made in North America? If so, we think you will love Hagen Heritage Wholesome Oatmeal Treats. Since 1955, the Hagen family has created products made from only the best ingredients. They are proud to be uncompromising with their products, guaranteeing they will always be made from the same wholesome, high quality ingredients that pet parents have come to trust. As well, their treats continue to be made in their own family owned facility in Quebec, Canada without using any corn, wheat, soy, artificial flavors, or artificial preservatives. To celebrate their heritage, they have released three of their classic recipes in new 300g bags, including some of their most popular flavors – Banana & Peanut Butter, Blueberry Honey & Vanilla, and Apple & Cinnamon. Since these training treats are only 4.5 calories, they are perfect for dogs of all ages.

Hagen Heritage 2

Hagen Heritage Wholesome Oatmeal Treats: Overall

So far we are big fans of these all-natural treats. Not only do they smell good for humans, but dogs as well. Well it took Reya a bit of adjusting since she wasn’t used to the smell, she did try these treats before long and absolutely loved them, especially the banana and peanut butter variety. Ivi, however, considered these treats a hit from the first sniff and bite. The size is perfect for her little baby teeth, and she seems to love the unique, fun flavors. Best of all, they smell great to humans too, making them a great training treat. Based on our own experience, we are happy to give Hagen Heritage training treats an A rating!

These sound like a great treat option, there are so many out there that are just full of junk. My dogs mean too much to my family to risk their health on unhealthy food and treats.

Blueberry Honey & Vanilla sound lovely my pugs would love that flavor. I love that they are low cal too. I have pugs and I really have to watch their weight. they are so food obsessed. I really try to make sure I am only giving them healthy treats. I love to try these.

I like that these are small, so will work for dogs like my Pomeranians too. I am shocked when I read the ingredient list on some dog treats. Its good to know there are healthier options for our furry babies.

I love that these treats are natural and I also think it’s great that they smell good. It may sound like a simple thing, but I do hate opening up a package of treats for my dogs and being offended by the smell. Thanks.

Thanks for the Fantastic Review on Hagen Heritage Treats Review: Natural Treats for Dogs! These treat flavors are different than the normal dog treat flavors. I honestly do not think that my girls would eat them. I have 2 very picky dogs! We were able to cut out treats for them because when I switched to the treats that were better and natural, they wouldn’t take them or they’d take them and I’d find them hiding all over the place! Now, if I want to give them a treat, they get apple slices and carrots! Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic review, the pictures, and your personal and professional opinions on Hagen Heritage Treats Review: Natural Treats for Dogs with all of us! I truly do appreciate your reviews!!!! Thanks again! Michele 🙂

I think Luma would love the peanut butter ones as well. I wonder if consuming the oatmeal would help with some of that Summer itchiness.

I think my dogs would love these. We don’t give them alot of treats because so many of them are unhealthy. And if they are “organic” they are usually so expensive. But these are healthy and a good price!

I love treats like these that have flavors even humans would love. Our dogs love anything will peanut butter, so I’m sure they’d gobble these up. Love the addition of oatmeal as well.

I’ve been working on changing out food and treats for my dogs that contain wheat, corn, and other ingredients that are not the best for them. I make homemade dog cookies using oats (but don’t have time to make them as often as I’d like). These sound great and I think my dogs would really love them.
