themometer01
As many of us know, being sick is never fun. One of the first things that us adults do when we think a partner or our child is sick is feel their head to see if they have a temperature. Usually if they feel warm, the first thing we do is grab the thermometer and wonder how much we will have to actually fight it to get it working. Personally, I hate most thermometers since they are not accurate and seem very inconvenient to those who are sick. Recently, however, I found what may very well be the coolest thermometer for any household – the Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer!

Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer: What is It

Struggling with a thermometer that never seems to work and makes members of your family uncomfortable? If so, we think everyone in your family will love the Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer. This easy to use thermometer uses the temporal artery on your forehead to scan temperature, giving you a more accurate reading without disturbing someone who is ill. Some of its features include an illuminated display, beeping sound that can be turned on and off, keeping temperatures in memory, and the ability for temperature to be read in Fahrenheit or Celsius. As well, the Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer is the number one preferred thermometer by nurses and pediatrician and is backed by more than 50 clinical studies proving its accuracy. It is made in the United States, unlike most of its competition. With this thermometer taking care of a sick family member is easier!

Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer: Overall

So far, we are big fan of this little thermometer. Not only is it compact, but very easy to use for kids and adults. I had always seen nurses use these in the hospital and now understand why since they are just so accurate. Best of all you don’t have disturb someone who is sick by having them get out of the covers or feel like gagging putting a thermometer in their mouth. It has also proven to so far be very accurate, allowing me to feel more confident in this thermometer. Based on our own experience, I am happy to give the Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer an A rating.

I love this concept! Waking any child up for thermometer time isn’t ever fun.. especially when they’re under the weather. I need to look into buying one of these!

Having something that is so quick and accurate without having to wake up the kids would be awesome. I know I usually have to struggle to keep their arm down or even wonder if I have it in a good spot to get the best temperature and with this none of that would be a concern for me anymore!

i think this is a thermomenter i would use. i am from the old school, and have felt kind of lost without my old fashioned thermomenter. this seems so non invasive, and you can use on children, even infants. it is also made in the usa , which is good, i am cautious buying anythingfrom overseas.

I’ve had a temporal scanner before but it was a cheap one and never worked as well as I hoped. I love the idea of a temporal thermometer because I have a squirmy toddler who doesn’t get that I just need him for twenty seconds to get the proper reading.

With all the thermometers out there and all the different kinds… it gets confusing!! Thank you for such a great review it answered all my questions about what is the best one for my family’s needs. With all the inferior products coming from other countries and finding out later how potentially harmful they could be, it is important to us to have a brand that is made in America as well. This is easy to use and I feel I can trust it. Thank you!!!

I have never used a temporal thermometer before, but I am looking for a high-quality thermometer that is accurate. I have trouble with the tympanic thermometers not being accurate. I will get wildly different readings only seconds apart. The oral ones are accurate, but more difficult to use on young children especially when they aren’t feeling well. I would love to try this thermometer. It looks awesome.

Thanks for the Fantastic Review on Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner Thermometer! OMG With My husband having 2 major surgeries within 5 months, I’ve spent an awful lot of time at the hospital. I noticed that they were using a different type of thermometer on him than I’ve ever seen before! I Loved It! I asked the nurse if she could steal one for me! Of course, she just laughed! I have been wanting one of these since the day I first saw it! Unfortunately I cannot afford to purchase one, due to hubby’s surgeries and not working his part-time job in forever (it seems like forever!) This past time, he’s been out of work since before Christmas! We are both disabled and on a fixed income, so his part-time job money helps with groceries and other things we need/want! With no work comes no money! When I saw this giveaway, I was so excited! I want this thermometer so very bad! I know my kids would love having their temperature taken this way! Thanks so much for the review and all the information on this thermometer which you shared with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

I like the large display on this thermometer. It is always such a struggle keeping the thermometer in place and then trying to read a tiny, poorly lit display hampers the situation even further.

  35. Karen Dries says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:22 am

I would love someting like this. It is so hard to get an accurate reading when someone is ill and to not have to wake someone up or put the thermometer in their mouth is great. Plus you aren’t spreading ant germs.

  36. Terri S. says

    March 6, 2015 at 11:34 am

When my grandkids get sick it is a hassle to take their temperature. It seems that fevers always pick the wee hours of the night and the child is grumpy (understandably), barely awake and not receptive to the regular thermometer. I love how easy this one works by scanning the temporal artery. The Smart Glow feature is a bonus so I don’t need to turn the bedroom light on and wake them up. I can take the temperate fast, in the dark and have a more accurate reading.

  44. Katie Ellis says

    March 7, 2015 at 2:30 am

This looks like an awesome thermometer. I love that it scans your forehead to determine temperature and not having to put it under your tongue. That is great so you can takes someones temperature when they’re sick without disturbing them.

  45. Jan Lee says

    March 7, 2015 at 1:29 pm

I too have seen these used in the hospitals. However, now they have one where it doesn’t even have to touch you and can still give your temperature. I have no idea how that works but they just hold it in front of your forehead and it’s done. I had even asked the nurse if she was sure she didn’t need to touch my forehead with it, and she said no. I had it done twice to me, on two different days so I know I wasn’t imagining it, lol Since that isn’t yet available, I do believe the Exogen is a good choice, especially for kids and babies 🙂

They have been using this type of thermometer at the doctors office I go to, plus the nurse coming to my home uses this type also. ( In home care because of back surgery). It’s so much nicer than sticking it in your mouth!

  48. Theresa Hover says

    March 7, 2015 at 11:31 pm

This definitely seems like a baby registry must-have; I’m adding it to mine tonight. I didn’t realize this is what hospitals use, and I’m glad there is a non-invasive option that is still accurate. If only it would work on my patients (dogs & cats), too bad the fur would get in the way.

  49. Tamara Terni says

    March 7, 2015 at 11:45 pm

My daughter has this one and I love it. It’s accurate and fast and easy. And there is no fighting when I need to take a temp. And that’s the biggest plus of all.

  50. Brandi B. says

    March 8, 2015 at 10:55 am

This thermometer looks awesome! I dislike the ear one that we have because I never know if its positioned just right to give me an accurate temp. This new forehead thermometer would be perfect for my five kids when they are sick! Very cool!

  51. Penni says

    March 8, 2015 at 6:13 pm

I think I’m going to invest in one of these! I’m not at all happy with the digital thermometers I’ve used for the past few years; they don’t seem accurate and break so easily. Good to know that this is the kind most nurses and pediatricians prefer!

  52. Kelly says

    March 8, 2015 at 7:17 pm

This looks like a great product. I have an old oral thermometer, and I always laugh that I have to hold it in my mouth and breath through my nose, but I am sick so I can’t breath through my nose. So I am not sure how accurate it is, but I don’t have a lot of faith.

  53. Jennifer Heintz says

    March 8, 2015 at 8:58 pm

This thermometer has an amazing concept. I would love to have this so as to not need to wake up my sick little one just to check their temperature. In addition my little ones would be so thankful not to have the thermometer in their mouth, especially since they usually are sick with bronchial issues.

  57. Jennifer Borden says

    March 9, 2015 at 11:09 am

Would a baby actually sit still to have their temperature taken on their forehead? Although, if baby isn’t sitting still for this then the other thermometers will be just as hard to use I guess.

  58. Jerrica Evans says

    March 9, 2015 at 2:54 pm

I need to get one of these. I have a two year old that refuses to sit still long enough for me to get an accurate temperature. She acts like it will hurt her to stay still for 20-30 seconds, but my other two were like that as well so it’s nothing new to me.

Trying to take the temperature of a sick baby is so difficult. This temporal scanner method looks so much easier. There are so many advantages to using this thermometer by Exergen: you can take temp without waking baby/child/adult, accurate temp readings and faster to name just a few. I love the the smart glow feature that enables you to leave lights off so you do not have to disturb their sleep. This would be a great gift for anyone especially a baby shower gift. 🙂

I love the fact you do not have to wake the child to take the temp. I have twin girls who do not like to be still so one of these would really be put to good use.

I’m probably a little too excited to try this thermometer. I have four young boys and it’s impossible to find a good one, I think this is going to be it!

I like this idea. You don’t have to look for probe covers. You aren’t spreading germs and it’s much quicker than the oral thermometer. It is a bit pricey. Maybe after the newness wears off, the price will drop a bit.
