Do you ever think about your cat’s teeth? If you are anything like me, you probably didn’t start thinking about them until your cat got older. Unlike dogs, who are constantly smiling, we usually don’t see their teeth unless they are eating or playing ferociously with a toy (or string – always string!). To make matter worse, you usually don’t know if your cat is having dental issues until there is a serious problem, such as a severe buildup of tartar or tooth decay. For older cats, this can especially be bad since it can lead to other health issues. Since brushing their teeth is usually challenging, (and scratch inducing), I have been trying to find something that doesn’t just clean their teeth, but that they will hopefully enjoy as well. As I was doing my research, I was introduced to the perfect dental treat for picky senior cats like ours – Meow Mix® Brushing Bites®.
With 85% of cats showing signs of oral disease by the age of 3, it isn’t shocking that cat parents want to do something to help their cats have healthier teeth. As a matter of fact, 95% of cat owners agree that tooth and gum problems can cause serious health problems, making it a major concern in the cat community. This is why Meow Mix Brushing Bites, at least in my opinion, is a must for cat parents. These crunchy treats help keep a cat’s teeth healthy by reducing or helping control plaque and tartar. As well, they they are fortified with vitamin D and calcium to help support strong, healthy teeth and bones, making them a healthy treat for cats.
Of course, the best part to cats is that Meow Mix Brushing Bites are made with real chicken or salmon. I mean, what cat can resist a delicious treat made from their favorite meat? For pet parents, these are a win-win since cats have a nutritious treat that their pet will enjoy, that also helps prevent dental issues down the road.
So what do our cats think of it? To see if they were worthy of feline attention, we got two of our favorite taste testers to help us out – Precious and Squeaky. Since these cats aren’t normally too interested in treats, they were a bit reluctant at first and mostly just smelling the treats a few times. After we let them sniff for a bit and make their own decision, they were quickly hooked on these treats and begging for more. We think the real chicken was probably the best part to our cats, which made Meow Mix Brushing Bites an absolute hit to our kitty testers. I mean, what could possibly be better than a cat treat that cats don’t just love, but controls plaque and tartar?
