Like many other girls, I love getting jewelry. Unlike other girls, however, I prefer jewelry with my birthstone – the opal. For years, my mother would buy me earrings and other beautiful pieces of jewelry. While I have always loved my birthstone, I didn't realize that it, along with other birthstones, had its own history and meaning. Knowing that a lot of you love jewelry just as much as me, I thought I would share this fun infographic about the different birthstones, their history, and meaning!

I always knew that my birthstone was the emerald, but I never knew what it meant! I would have never guessed that it was connected to Venus, the goddess of love.
Wow I didn't know most of this, I am a Ruby but I love Opals especially the new ones that have come out, they have a lot more Color to them. I am always looking on JTV to find Gems that I like.
Thanks for the post, and the Information!

Thank you! I used to hate my birthstone because I don’t like the color yellow but now that I know its meaning is love and affection I like it a little better!

Mine is the sapphire! I remember my mom getting me and my sister earrings based on our birth stone! This actually makes for great gifts also and not too expensive unless your birthstone is diamond!!

Ive known since i was little that my birthstone is the Garnet. And along with this history the Garnet is also known as a healingstone i wear mine often and would much rather have my birthstone then any other .
Thanks for sharing! I can't believe the diamond signified originally inner strength; that's great and pretty cool (enough though everlasting love is cool too, haha).
I was very happy to see the details that you put into the birthstones. I learned more about each one than I knew before. Thank you
I never knew the history of my birthday, Amethyst. I think it is AWESOME that for a period of time only royalty was allowed to wear this stone! I NEVER KNEW THAT!
Interesting information. Of couse I knew that everyone has a birthstone, I just didn't know the meaning behind them.
I love mine as it is Amethyst. Fitting as my first name is Sarah which means Princess!
This was a very interesting post/review. I never knew much about birthstones, just that mine is Ruby for July. Thanks for sharing info on this!
Thanks for the great information. I didn't know there were meanings behind the gems! I am September (I don't like the gem) but now I do like it a little more 🙂
This was informative and interesting. I have a lot of different birth months in my family and each one seemed fitting to their definition, that was great!
This is so cool! Thanks for sharing this with us. It is cool knowing the meaning of your birthstones. Now I know why I have always wanted to visit Australia.

I love opals, LOVE THEM, but I fall into the Emerald category. Luckily I like emeralds as well. 🙂
